Serafim Tsotsonis

 

Serafim Tsotsonis Serafim Tsotsonis was born in Athens in 1977. He studied piano and theory and went on to sound engineering. He creates classical as well as electronic compositions, with a wide interest in all audiovisual means. In 2000 he started creating TV and radio spots. In 2002 he composed the music for the video art project, titled "E Pluribus Unum" for the Academia di Belle Arti in Venice and wrote the music for the film "Merry Go Round" by Yiannis Drakos which participated at the Thessalonica Film Festival the same year, receiving rave reviews. His appearance in Venice opened the road to another three collaborations in Italy, in 2003. He wrote the music for two video art projects in Venice: "ACQUEITY" at the Academia Belle Arti, "Premio Stella" in Bologna and the live performance "Palazzo Quella" in Venice. The same year in Greece, he composed the music for the theatre plays "Come again?" by Thodoris Filos at Club 22, "The fly's comedy" by the Paravasi theatre team that took place at the Fine Arts School, as well as Edward Alby's "Zoo Story" at the Hitirio Theatre. The year closed with music for the 40' digital documentary "Miners' Lives in the heart of Parnassus" by Efi Xirou, an SKB Mineral Industry S.A. production, that was presented at the Amfissa Museum. In 2004 he continued his collaboration with Efi Xirou for the 23' documentary "Epicurean Apollo", which was assigned by the Ministry of Culture and shows the Temple's erection. Moreover, one of his pieces was included in the "Open Doors" project by the National Centre for Social Research. June of the same year sees him participate at the 1st Synch Festival at the Experimental Stage and in August he writes the music for an exhibition for the Cultural Olympiad 2004. At the end of the year two theatre plays arrive: Jean Anouille's "Antigone" at the Theater of Arts and Adriano Shaplin's "Pugilist Specialist" at the Theatre Kefallinias Street. In 2005 he continued his recordings for his personal album PEAK while at the same time he participates in live performances with the Playback team at the Theatro tou Neou Kosmou. During the summertime he made his second appearance at Synch Festival with the project NOTE NO and with the participation of Angeliki Tsotsoni at a video installation. His second personal album was released on 2008 and Tsotsonis accomplishes with "So, this is heaven" to exceed himself as we knew him through his previous work, "Peak", which enjoyed the most warm reception, in Greece and abroad. 2011 finds Serafim Tsotsonis with a new album “Beautiful People” creating breathtaking melodies and captivating grooves for all the beautiful people. Overall Serafim Tsotsonis is one of the most important talents of Greece.
